Honda describes the EU2200i as “ideal for camping, supplemental RV power, and any other activity that requires quiet operation”. This card covers the EU2200ITAN, the 49-state version with Bluetooth. The EU2200i Companion and EU2200i Camo are separate model names. It weighs 47.4 lb dry and starts by recoil only.

Running vs starting watts

Honda rates it at 1,800 W rated (running) and 2,200 W maximum (starting). The 2,200 in the name is the maximum, available only while a motor starts; continuous loads must stay under 1,800 W. On its own it can start a French-door refrigerator or a 1/2 HP sump pump and run a 1,100 W microwave. It cannot start our 7-1/4 in circular saw (3,600 W starting).

Run time

Honda publishes 3.2 hours at rated load and 8.1 hours at 1/4 load on the 0.95-gallon tank. We show those points only and do not extrapolate. It is an inverter generator; Honda says its inverter gives “stable, clean power” suitable for computers and other sensitive equipment, but publishes no harmonic-distortion figure on the page we read.

Safety

CO-MINDER monitors CO levels and, per Honda, “automatically shuts down the generator before detected CO levels near the generator become dangerously high”. That reduces the risk but does not make indoor use safe: CPSC's outdoor-only rule applies.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Honda EU2200i run an RV air conditioner or a well pump?
Not by the figures we hold. Its 2,200 W maximum is well below the starting figures of our 13,500 BTU RV air conditioner and 1/2 HP well pump. Two units in parallel give up to 4,400 W, still below both. AC starting draw differs by model, so check your own unit in the calculator.
Is the EU2200i RV-ready (TT-30R)?
It has one 20 A 125 V duplex outlet and no TT-30R. Honda mentions “supplemental RV power” as a use, but an RV's 30 A plug would need an adapter.
Is the EU2200i CARB compliant?
Honda lists this version as “Not for sale in California”.
Can two EU2200i generators be paralleled?
Yes. Honda says two identical models can be paralleled with an optional cable for up to 4,400 W, and that the EU2200i also parallels with EU2000iK1/T1 models.
How loud is the EU2200i?
Honda lists 57 dB(A) at rated load and 48 dB(A) at 1/4 load, with no measuring distance.
