How many watts does a CPAP machine use — and how long can a power station run it?
ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet: 53 W typical, 104 W peak, 7–34 Wh per hour depending on humidifier and heated tube — and runtime on power stations.
Representative model: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet. Draw depends on settings: ResMed's figures rise from 7 Wh (device only) to 22 Wh with the humidifier and 34 Wh with the humidifier plus the heated ClimateLineAir tube, so humidifier and heated-tube settings raise CPAP draw. ResMed's user guide says to turn the humidifier off when running from an external battery to maximise battery life. Planning figures only — confirm with the device manufacturer before relying on a power station or generator for this device.
The figures are ResMed's own, for the AirSense 10 AutoSet. The user guide's technical specifications list a typical power consumption of 53 W and a peak power consumption of 104 W, with a 90 W power supply unit. A separate ResMed document, "Power consumption of Air10 devices", gives energy at stated settings: 7 Wh for the device alone, 22 Wh with the humidifier and 34 Wh with the humidifier plus a heated tube. ResMed labels that column "Power Consumed (Watt Hour)"; the site reads it as watt-hours per hour of running and uses 34 W as the average.
What changes the draw
In ResMed's table the humidifier and heated-tube settings move the figure more than anything else — from 7 Wh to 34 Wh. The model and its other settings matter too; the figures here are for one machine at the settings ResMed states. Confirm with the device manufacturer before relying on a power station or generator for this device.
The peak figure
104 W is ResMed's peak power consumption, not a motor-start figure. The site treats it as the peak a station must cover; every station on the site with an AC outlet does.
Reading the tables
"Runtime at 53 W" assumes ResMed's typical draw without a break. "At average draw" uses 34 W, ResMed's figure with the humidifier and heated tube, and gives hours of use. Example: the Jackery Explorer 300 record carries Jackery's own 0.85 factor, so 292 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 34 W = 7.3 hours; at 53 W the same arithmetic gives 4.7 hours. The page assumes 8 hours of use a night, which at 34 W is 272 Wh. Stations without a maker factor use the default 0.85 (method).
Power stations that can run it
Pass = continuous output ≥ 53 W. Runtime = capacity × maker's factor ÷ 53 W, nothing else plugged in. Method.
