How many watts does a portable induction cooktop use — and what can run it?
A single-burner induction cooktop (Duxtop 9600LS) draws up to 1,800 W, with levels from 100 W. Which power stations and generators can run it.
Draw depends on the power level selected; 1800 W is the top setting.
The representative model is the Duxtop 9600LS, a single-burner portable induction cooktop. The Secura, the company behind Duxtop, lists it at 1,800 W, with 20 preset power levels from 100 W to 1,800 W. The 1,800 W is the top setting, so the tables show the most it can draw.
What changes the draw
The power level you select is the main variable: the cooktop is sold by its power levels, and a simmer setting asks for a fraction of the maximum. Boiling water or searing at the top setting is the case the station has to handle; holding a pot warm is much lighter.
No starting surge
This page has no starting figure, and the Champion wattage chart lists a portable induction cooktop among appliances that need no extra starting watts. The deciding number is continuous output at the setting you use: 1,800 W at the top, so stations rated 1,500 W continuous fail there.
Reading the tables
Runtime is time at the full 1,800 W. The page assumes one hour a day, 1,800 Wh. Example: the EcoFlow DELTA 3 record has no maker factor, so the default 0.85 applies: 1,024 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 1,800 W = 0.5 hours. At the 100 W level the same arithmetic gives 8.7 hours.
Power stations that can run it
Pass = continuous output ≥ 1800 W. Runtime = capacity × maker's factor ÷ 1800 W, nothing else plugged in. Method.
