How many watts does an Instant Pot use — and what can run it?
A 6 qt Instant Pot Duo Plus is rated 1,000 W. Which power stations and generators can run an electric pressure cooker, and for how long.
The representative model is the Instant Pot Duo Plus 6QT, listed by Instant at 1,000 W, 120 V, 60 Hz. That rating is the heating element under the inner pot, and it is the most the cooker draws.
What changes the draw
An electric pressure cooker heats at full power until it reaches pressure, then switches the element on and off to hold it, and the keep-warm mode afterwards needs only occasional heating. More food or colder ingredients lengthen the time to pressure. Instant publishes no average, so the tables treat the element as on the whole time — an overstatement of energy use, and so an understatement of runtime.
No starting surge
The heater is a resistive load with no motor start, so there is no starting figure here and peak output does not decide the fit. Continuous output does. A 1,000 W station passes exactly at its limit, which leaves nothing for a second appliance; the start of a fridge compressor on the same station would be added on top (how loads are added).
Reading the tables
Runtime is time at 1,000 W with nothing else connected. The page assumes one hour a day, 1,000 Wh. Example: the Bluetti AC70 record has no maker factor, so the default 0.85 applies: 768 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 1,000 W = 0.7 hours.
Power stations that can run it
Pass = continuous output ≥ 1000 W. Runtime = capacity × maker's factor ÷ 1000 W, nothing else plugged in. Method.
