How many watts does a pellet stove use — and what can run it?
A Harman P43 pellet stove: 336 W running, 504 W at start-up (2.8 A and 4.2 A per Harman). Which power stations and generators can keep it burning.
Harman's installation manual lists '120 VAC, 60 Hz, Start 4.2 Amps, Run 2.8 Amps' for the P43-C, P61-C and P68-C, and warns that some generator or battery back-up systems may not be compatible with the stove's micro-processor electronics — check compatibility with the power-supply maker.
The figures come from Harman's P-Series installation manual, which covers the P43-C, P61-C and P68-C. Under electrical codes it lists 120 VAC, 60 Hz, "Start 4.2 Amps, Run 2.8 Amps". The site multiplies by 120 V: 336 W running and 504 W at start-up. The start figure is Harman's start-up current, published for the stove as a whole.
What changes the draw
A pellet stove burns pellets, but it needs electricity for its controls and the motors that feed and move air. Harman publishes a single run current, not one per heat setting, so the tables use 336 W throughout. The stove runs for as long as you want heat; the page assumes 12 hours a day, 4,032 Wh.
The start and Harman's warning
The 504 W start figure is modest, and every station on this site that covers 336 W continuously also covers it. The more important note is Harman's own: some generator or battery back-up systems may not be compatible with the stove's micro-processor electronics, and the manual says to consult the power-supply maker. A pass in the tables below is a wattage check only; it does not settle that compatibility question.
Reading the tables
Runtime is for the stove running at 336 W without a break. Example: the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus record has no maker factor, so the default 0.85 applies: 286 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 336 W = 0.7 hours; the Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 gives 5.2 hours by the same arithmetic.
Power stations that can run it
Pass = continuous output ≥ 336 W and peak output ≥ 504 W. Runtime = capacity × maker's factor ÷ 336 W, nothing else plugged in. Method.
