How many watts does Starlink Mini use — and what can run it?

Starlink Mini averages 25–40 W, with a 12–48 V, 60 W input rating, per Starlink. Which power stations run it, and for how many hours.

Starlink states an average range of 25–40 W and an input rating of 12–48 V, 60 W; the calculator uses the upper end of the average.

The figures come from Starlink's Mini specification sheet. It gives power consumption as a range, "Average: 25-40 W", and an input rating of 12–48 V, 60 W. The site uses the top of the average range, 40 W; the 60 W input rating is a ceiling, not a typical draw.

What changes the draw

Starlink does not say what moves the Mini between 25 W and 40 W, and the sheet's snow-melt capability comes without a wattage. Because the Mini is designed to run continuously, the page assumes 24 hours a day — 960 Wh at 40 W — and that daily energy is the real limit for a small station.

DC instead of the AC outlet

The Mini takes DC power directly. Starlink's sheet lists a USB PD requirement of 100 W, 20 V / 5 A minimum, using its USB-C to barrel jack cable accessory. Running from a station's DC or USB-C output skips the station's inverter, which is part of what the 0.85 runtime factor accounts for (method). The tables below cover the AC outlet only.

No starting surge

There is no motor and no starting figure; every station on the site with an AC outlet covers 40 W continuous.

Reading the tables

Runtime assumes 40 W without a break. Example: the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus record has no maker factor, so the default 0.85 applies: 286 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 40 W = 6.1 hours. The larger Starlink Standard kit has its own page.

Frequently asked questions

How many watts does Starlink Mini use?
Starlink's Mini specification sheet gives "Average: 25-40 W" and an input rating of 12–48 V, 60 W. This page uses 40 W.
Can Starlink Mini run from USB-C?
Starlink's spec sheet lists a USB PD requirement of 100 W, 20 V / 5 A minimum, with Starlink's USB-C to barrel jack cable accessory. A station's USB-C port has to meet that to power it; the tables on this page cover the AC outlet only.
How long can a small power station run Starlink Mini?
At the default 0.85 factor, the 286 Wh EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus runs it 286 × 0.85 ÷ 40 = 6.1 hours at 40 W, or 9.7 hours at 25 W.
