How many watts does a toaster use — and what can run it?
A 2-slice toaster (Breville 'A Bit More' BTA720) is listed at 900 W. Which power stations and generators can run it, and for how long.
The representative model is the Breville 'A Bit More' 2-slice toaster, BTA720, listed by Breville at 900 W, 120 V. A toaster is simple to size: bare heating elements that draw their rated wattage for the minutes the lever is down.
What changes the draw
The browning setting changes how long the elements stay on, not how hard they draw, so it affects energy per round of toast rather than the wattage the station must supply. A toaster with more slots has more elements; the rating label tells you its figure.
No starting surge
A toaster is a resistive load: no motor, no starting figure, and a station's peak rating does not help. The deciding number is continuous output. Stations rated 600 W, such as the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus, fail at 900 W even though they have a higher peak. Some stations offer a boost mode for heating loads; it is noted on the station's card but not counted in the fit (why).
Reading the tables
Runtime is time with the elements on at 900 W and nothing else connected. The page assumes six minutes of use a day, 90 Wh. Example: the Bluetti AC70 record has no maker factor, so the default 0.85 applies: 768 Wh × 0.85 ÷ 900 W = 0.7 hours.
Power stations that can run it
Pass = continuous output ≥ 900 W. Runtime = capacity × maker's factor ÷ 900 W, nothing else plugged in. Method.
